The Cycling Tour of Spain will once again climb the Tentudía hill

The Vuelta Ciclista a España will pass through Extremadura again this year and, therefore, will once again have one of its climbs in the Tentudía hill. A 77th edition that was presented this morning in Mérida. The general director of La Vuelta, Javier Guillén, has been pleased to repeat its presence in Extremadura “with two stages full of arguments and stories and that can also make differences.” As he has said, “in the end with La Vuelta we tell stories through the efforts of the cyclists.”

La Vuelta 22 will be held between on August 19 and September 11, in 21 stages. The Spanish round will start, for the fourth time in its history, from abroad: in the Netherlands, from Utrecht. It will have 23 teams and 184 runners. It is therefore an incomparable showcase since it is broadcast in 190 countries and has 327 accredited media outlets.

Specifically, in the province of Badajoz will land 17th stage on September 7. That day will start in the Huelva town of Aracena, ending at the Tentudía Monastery, in the town of Calera de León, after passing through Fregenal de la Sierra, Jerez de los Caballeros, Burguillos del Cerro and Segura de León. Tentudía is the roof of the province of Badajoz with its 1,112 meters of altitude. The port has its summit at 1,108 meters. This tour is classified by the organization itself as a «rompepien’s» which ends in a climb that is not excessively hard, but in which no one should trust after 160 kilometers with the accumulated wear and tear of almost three weeks of competition.
